Olkore.com is a dynamic digital agency that I, Dane Esterhuizen, established in late 2020 and officially launched in 2021. As the founder, I envisioned Olkore as a robust platform capable of handling our clients' digital creative artwork needs. Over time, we've significantly expanded our range of services, delving into the coding of mailers and website pages. We've also ventured into videography, crafting engaging content for in-store screens for prominent brands such as Hi-Online, Markham, Exact, Foschini, and American Swiss. Freude Österreichs in der Schweiz, a non-profit organisation in Switzerland, engaged my services for the development of a bespoke mobile application aligned with their unique business requirements. With the overarching objective to facilitate seamless communication and streamline operational processes within the organisation, the project entailed a meticulous understanding of user needs, an iterative design process with consistent validation through testing. This dedicated effort resulted in an intuitive and effective tool, poised to significantly enhance productivity and foster greater collaboration within the organisation.

I developed unique concepts for social media videos, collaborating closely with the Hi-Online and Totalsports team to increase engagement and conversions. The project provided an opportunity to explore new ideas and experiment with different approaches to create exceptional content for the brand's digital presence.

I had the pleasure of managing an exciting project involving the creation of promo videos for in-store displays. What made this project particularly fun was the opportunity to work with my talented videography team and take the lead in overseeing the entire project from start to finish. As the project manager, I was responsible for ensuring that every aspect of the video production was executed to perfection. This included everything from brainstorming the initial concepts, drafting the scripts, managing the videography team, and overseeing the final edits. Despite the challenges that arose throughout the project, the team's enthusiasm and willingness to push boundaries made the process all the more enjoyable.

My team and I created Boundless Possibilities of Digital Artwork, a collection of digital artwork that showcases the limitless possibilities of the medium. We harnessed the latest technology and techniques to create stunning visuals that transcend traditional mediums. I believe that we pushed the boundaries of branding by bringing a little swag to each piece, while still staying true to the brand's core identity. These are a few of my works.



The Difficult Decision to Close Olkore Amid Changing Market



Closing Olkore was not an easy decision, yet it was one necessitated by a confluence of challenges that were insurmountable. The rapidly changing market dynamics and the economic climate in South Africa significantly impacted our ability to continue operations successfully. In the face of these adversities, maintaining our business became increasingly difficult. We found ourselves navigating a labyrinth of shifting consumer behaviors, heightened competition, and a sluggish economy that offered little room for growth. Despite our best efforts to adapt and evolve, the external pressures proved too profound, ultimately affecting our bottom line and compromising the sustainability of our business. While it is heartbreaking to cease operations, we believe it to be the most responsible decision considering the current circumstances. We are grateful for the journey and remain proud of the creative solutions and innovative designs we provided to our valued clients during our time in operation. We look forward to applying these hard-learned lessons and experiences to future endeavors.
